'New Xbox 360 console to hit market' by Jordy Morris

Microsoft Corp.'s gaming console, Xbox 360 will hit the market on November 22 in the United States. Microsoft goals are designed for the long-term and would like to diversify there gaming audience beyond the traditional base of young males. Sports games are the most stable category when it comes to annual revenue that is produced. Electronic Arts will release four sports title at the launch for the new console. Microsoft does not publish sports titles for its own console will still spend a third of its Xbox ad budget for the launch on sports programming. Not only is sports being promoted to change the age of the audience, but they would also like more females to become interacted with the new console. Other capabilities the console has is playing DVD's and MP3 files and displaying digital photos. They also are developing more family oriented titles in search of that elusive audience.
I think this is a great idea because sports is always going to be around and the fan base that comes with it is enormous. The larger the fan base equals more opportunity of gaining a higher gaming audience. Sports games are entertaining and will always give the average college kid something to do in his down time. I also think it is a pretty good idea that they are trying to reach out to a broader audience by making the console perform a number of different operations. I think this will reach out to more families during the holiday season because it will be a great gift with a possibility of four gifts in one.
