"N.Y Marathon sponsors pick up pace" Volume 8 Issue 23 by Richard Munsell

Marketers are cramming for sponsor space for this years upcoming marathon in NY. The reace has 29 sponsors in total which kind of suprises me, I thought there would be a lot more however they said that revenue is up ten percent. A lot of older sponsors contracts ended and were not renewed however, there were a lot of big time businesses and coorperations that eagerly joined. I think this is a good idea for exposure for their product or company considering there will 37,000 or more runners involved in the race. Not to mention the spectators and media coverage they will get. There are even smaller businesses using sports marketing for the first time which I also didn't think was a bad idea at all. Some of the bigger companies were Coors Light, Henkel, Best Buy, Asics, Tylenol, Nickelodeon, etc. Overall this is great for the race because the winner this year earns the largetst prize ever 130,000 dollars.
